What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a child-centered, developmentally appropriate form of therapy that provides children with a safe, supportive and confidential space to express themselves through play. Play is a child’s natural way of communicating, and it allows them to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. In the therapy room, children are given time, attention and emotional safety to work through challenges, build understanding, and develop healthier ways of coping. Guided by a trained therapeutic play practitioner, this process supports emotional growth, resilience and self-confidence, while always respecting each child’s individuality and pace.

I work with children aged 4 to 13 using an integrative, holistic model- an evidence-based approach which considers the whole child. While I do not diagnose, assess or provide treatment, I work therapeutically with children and can support families with appropriate referrals when needed.
